problem
Report page was difficult to read and use
Extracting information from Reporting page is difficult, tiring and the visual design is outdated causing customers choosing more modern solutions
The current design of the Report page in Workdeck makes it difficult for Project Management Team Leaders, C-level executives and Administratives to understand and use important project information.
This creates challenges for making quick decisions and affects their overall experience.
solution
Understandable data visualization is the desired improvement
We redesigned the Report page to ensure staff from all roles can easily access project data in a clear and interactive format.
By incorporating charts, colored labels, and icons, users swiftly grasp vital information for quicker decision-making.
The addition of interactive features enables deeper data exploration.
The modern design not only appeals to new users but also maintains satisfaction among current ones, enhancing Workdeck's user experience and market visibility.

Quick and costless improvement process
The business needed a quick and costless solution to improve the functionality and visual aspect of the software, so it could attract new customers and retain current ones.
A clear and structured, but flexible process helped to achieve it efficiently.

scope
Report feature
Reports serve as a means of communicating the performance of both the company and each individual project or department. Data is gathered and presented in one centralized location.
Particularly crucial for C-level executives and management, understanding reported data promptly is vital for making strategic decisions efficiently.
Currently, the design of the Report page is unattractive, making it a laborious task to extract information as it necessitates users to read through each line of numbers.
hypothesis
research
Does it answer user needs?
Before taking any action we did just enough research to know if we were attending the right problem.
Research goal
To gain a deep understanding of users' motivations for utilizing the Reports feature, their expectations for interacting with it, and the tangible outcomes they achieve as a result.
why do users use the Reports feature?
what do they expect it be like to interact with the feature?
what do they achieve thanks to what they find in the Report page?
We gathered feedback from users who had been using the product for 4 months to 1 year.
We identified this group of users as already familiar with all the features; however, they haven't yet invested so much to be reluctant to switch to another product.
Below I broke down Feedback of 20 participants, who use the Report feature at least monthly

User's Current Satisfaction
Users provided us with candid feedback, expanding on their thoughts through open-ended responses
“The Reports feature allowed me to identify a project that was consistently exceeding its budget, prompting me to reallocate resources and adjust the timeline."
“The data visualization sometimes feels overwhelming and unclear."
“Better data organization would really help me focus on specific metrics that matter to me."
“I imagine a quick summary of key metrics followed by the ability to drill down into detailed visuals that can be customized based on my needs."
To gain a deeper understanding of our users' experiences, it's crucial to empathize with our users. By tapping into their thoughts, feelings, and interactions, we uncovered valuable insights that guided our redesign efforts for Workdeck's Report page.
The empathy map below offers a glimpse into our users' perspectives, helping us to better grasp their needs and challenges.

Before jumping into defining the solution we wanted to make sure our strategy was right. To increase our chances on the market we needed to know first:
How do our competitors help their users to achieve their goals?
We thought it would be a great help to examine the products we are competing with. We had a lot of questions: Do they offer a Report feature? If so, how does it function and appear? How do they assist their users in reaching their objectives?

Brainstorming ideas and defining project goals
After gathering and analyzing findings from the research phase
we ran a workshop and approached the discovered found challenges as opportunities.
We asked ourselves How Might We... solve the issues we had one by one.
How might we…
Delight users with our report feature
How might we…
enable easy navigation
How might we…
Make data interpretation on the Report page more intuitive
How might we…
Remove unnecessary steps from the report flow
We were then able to precisely define the Report page redesign goal.
Project Goal
Transform the Report page into a user-friendly data hub, enabling Executives and Project Management Team Leaders to make informed decisions efficiently, thereby enhancing Workdeck's competitive edge in the market
design
Reading data needs to be easy
We looked at our reports page and decided to group repeated numbers into charts and widgets
Without further ado, I put myself into work. I chose the appropriate data representation method for each information group and began to organize it on the page.
I considered the hierarchy, scalability, and the actions users take after interacting with our Reports feature.
I carefully designed a new, modern, clean aesthetic that will later be applied to next Workdeck features, giving users the feeling that they are interacting with a trustworthy, professional, and future-proof product.

Testing, Learning, Impact
User Testing Validates Enhanced Functionality and Satisfaction.
To validate our design improvements, we created a prototype and engaged users in task-oriented interactions.
Our participants were asked to perform specific tasks using the prototype, providing us with valuable insights into its functionality and user experience.
As part of our commitment to data-driven decision-making, we meticulously measured the impact of the redesign. The following results underscore the success of our efforts:
Task completion
New and frequent users are completing tasks with greater success rate, less confusion and less repetition
Faster time on Task
It takes users 42% less time to complete tasks they performed already or new to them tasks.
User satisfaction
In surveys and interviews Users confirm they are more satisfied when using Reports section now. They cannot wait to the next updates.
We observed a positive shift in users' impressions. As they interacted with the redesigned Report page, a sense of relief and engagement was palpable among them.
The new reports tool is a breath of fresh air. I can effortlessly switch between templates, making it easy to compare different sets of data.
